California (Web Desk): Facebook, owned by the U.S.-based tech giant Meta, has removed nearly 10 million fake profiles during the first half of 2025, as part of a major global accountability campaign.
According to a report by CNBC, Meta stated that many of these fake accounts were impersonating well-known personalities and content creators, aiming to mislead users and spread copied or manipulated content.
The purpose of this action was to promote original content and protect genuine users from fake or duplicated material.
Meta used Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies to detect plagiarism and replication. As a result, the content of authentic creators was restored and given priority, while those repeatedly sharing copied content had their monetization privileges suspended.
Meta also emphasized that this is just the beginning of a broader, long-term strategy. The company plans to continue using AI tools to identify and remove fake profiles and plagiarized content in the future.
