PSL 10: Multan Sultans win toss, opt to field first against Islamabad United

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Multan Sultans won the toss and decided to field first against Islamabad United in the 7th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 at Pindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

The match, initially delayed due to a wet outfield following evening showers in the twin cities, finally got the green signal after multiple inspections.

Strong winds swept across the ground, adding a layer of uncertainty before umpires eventually confirmed the toss at 8:15 PM and scheduled the match to begin at 8:45 PM.

With the outfield concerns temporarily resolved, the stage was set for a high-stakes showdown between two of the league’s most competitive sides.

The head-to-head record between the Sultans and United stood dead even, with both teams boasting eight wins apiece since Multan joined the PSL in 2018.

This tie added an extra edge to the encounter, with the winner not only claiming two points but also a psychological advantage in this tight rivalry.

Islamabad United entered the match riding a wave of momentum, having registered convincing victories over Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi in their first two outings of the season.

The defending champions looked sharp and balanced, with a string of five consecutive wins stretching back to the previous season underscoring their form.

On the flip side, Multan Sultans were looking to bounce back after a heart-breaking four-wicket loss to Karachi Kings in their campaign opener. Despite piling up a mammoth 234 on the board, their bowling attack failed to contain the Kings, raising early questions about their death-over strategy.

With form, conditions, and bragging rights all in the mix, this contest between a confident United and a determined Sultans outfit promised fireworks under the lights in Rawalpindi.
