Pakistan calls for creation of Arab-Islamic task force to counter Israel's expansionist designs

Doha (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while speaking at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha on Monday, called for the establishment of a collective Arab-Islamic task force to ward off Israel’s expansionist policies.

He stressed that Israel must be brought to justice for its crimes against humanity.

Reaffirming the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) stance, he urged that Israel’s membership of the United Nations be suspended and advised member states to actively deliberate on additional measures to hold it accountable.

PM Shehbaz appealed to the United Nations (UN) Security Council to invoke Chapter VII of the UN Charter and ensure an immediate, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire, as well as the release of hostages and the exchange of Palestinian prisoners.

He underscored the urgent need for uninterrupted humanitarian access for all affected civilians and the protection of aid workers, medical staff, journalists, and UN personnel working in conflict zones.

The premier reiterated that the only path to genuine peace lies in a fair, comprehensive, and permanent two-state solution, which includes the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

PM Shehbaz strongly condemned Israel’s reckless assault on Doha, describing it as a deliberate attempt to derail peace efforts in the Middle East, and expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Qatar.

He pointed out that the attack was yet another reflection of Israel’s declared hegemonic ambitions rather than an isolated incident.

Appreciating Qatar’s diplomatic role, PM Shehbaz acknowledged its persistent efforts to bridge divides and advance the cause of peace both regionally and globally.

He drew attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where Israel’s relentless military campaign has devastated the territory and taken the lives of more than 64,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children.

“Injustice has reached an unbearable level which must stop now,” PM Shehbaz asserted.
