PM Shehbaz leaves for Qatar to attend 'Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit'

Islamabad (Web Deb Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Qatar on Monday to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit taking place in Doha.

The meeting, jointly sponsored by Pakistan, has been called in response to Israel’s air raids on Doha and the rapidly worsening situation in Palestine, marked by attempts to seize Gaza, step up settlement projects in the West Bank, and force the displacement of Palestinians.

The premier is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the PM Syed Tariq Fatemi, and senior government officials.

The summit is expected to draw participation from heads of state, government leaders, and senior representatives of OIC member countries.

A preparatory session of foreign ministers took place on Sunday, where Senator Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan.

Earlier, on September 11, 2025, PM Shehbaz had also traveled to Doha in solidarity after the Israeli strikes, meeting with Qatar’s leadership to reaffirm Pakistan’s steadfast support for Qatar’s sovereignty and its commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region.
