Islamabad (Web Desk): World leaders on Monday welcomed the deal reached between the United States (US) and Iran aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East, describing it as a landmark diplomatic achievement aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and supporting global economic stability.
The accord, which builds on earlier ceasefire understandings, was widely welcomed as a foundation for further negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme and wider regional security issues. Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement was repeatedly acknowledged, with several countries crediting its mediation efforts in helping facilitate dialogue between the parties.
UN Secretary-General
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres praised the development and highlighted its significance for peace and stability.
“This represents a critical step towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict,” Gueterres remarked in a statement.
“My deep appreciation goes to Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and other regional countries, for the constructive role played in supporting the negotiations that led to the peace deal,” he added.

Australia
Australia’s leadership welcomed the breakthrough in a joint statement, acknowledging the contribution of regional mediators.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong, in a joint statement, commended “the efforts to date of Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and other mediating countries.”
They also reiterated support for de-escalation efforts and welcomed progress toward restoring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Turkiye
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the agreement as an important milestone for regional peace.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement welcoming the agreement and acknowledging the mediating countries.

French President Emmanuel Macron called for swift implementation of the agreement and emphasized continued diplomatic engagement.
He said the deal also paved the way for comprehensive negotiations in service of peace and security for all in the Middle East.

Japan also expressed strong support for the development.
Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi commended “the efforts of the relevant countries that have played a mediating role to date.”
“We welcome the agreement on this memorandum as a major step toward resolution of the situation. This is the result of the parties concerned pursuing a diplomatic solution and engaging in persistent negotiations. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer warmly welcomed the agreement, describing it as “a hugely important step forward in ending the war, ensuring regional stability and re-opening the Strait of Hormuz.”

New Zealand’s Foreign Minister emphasized the economic and security importance of the agreement.

Austria
Austria welcomed the agreement and urged immediate implementation.
“This agreement opens a window for negotiations towards a more stable and secure Middle East, and I urge all parties to engage constructively…I would like to recognise the important role of Pakistan and the countries of the Gulf region, who have successfully mediated between the warring countries.”
European Union
The European Union described the agreement as a potentially major diplomatic breakthrough. It stated:

Kuwait
Kuwait welcomed the agreement and highlighted Pakistan’s mediation role.
In a statement, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the agreement, while commending the role played by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar, alongside other brotherly and friendly countries, which contributed to bridging viewpoints and creating the conditions for reaching this important understanding.

Armenia Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also welcomed the agreement reached between the US and Iran.

Finland also supported the agreement and urged implementation.

Canada welcomed the diplomatic breakthrough and emphasized continued dialogue.
Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney also extended gratitude to Pakistan, Qatar and regional partners for their indispensable roles in facilitating negotiations.
He said as negotiations continue, all parties should maintain good faith dialogue and refrain from escalation.
Canada remains in close contact with partners and is ready to support efforts to bring stability and lasting peace to the region, including in Lebanon.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia highlighted the importance of maritime security and mediation efforts.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs highly appreciated the mediation efforts carried out by the Pakistan and the State of Qatar, alongside the positive responsiveness shown by the United States and Iran, which directly culminated in reaching this milestone peace accord.
Saudi Arabia also emphasized the vital importance of restoring maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to its status prior to February 28.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh welcomed the agreement and called for sustained diplomacy.
The Government of Bangladesh warmly welcomed the finalization of the peace agreement and said that Bangladesh has consistently been calling for de-escalation and a resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, while expressing deep appreciation for the efforts of all parties and facilitators involved in bringing about this positive development.
Bangladesh encouraged all parties to build upon this momentum to address outstanding issues and looked forward to the early restoration of regional calm, global supply chains, and international collaboration.
Earlier Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and US President Donald Trump announced the agreement and outlined implementation steps.
“Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland,” the prime minister wrote on his X timeline.
PM Shehbaz said that with the agreement now in place, mediators would facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony, he added.
US President Donald Trump stated:“Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow,” he wrote.
Trump said that the “Great Deal” would bring peace and security to the whole region.
He also praised Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement, noting its role in backchannel diplomacy and mediation efforts that helped bring the agreement forward.
