Interior Minister Naqvi meets Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, reaffirms deeper bilateral cooperation

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran.

During the meeting both sides held a comprehensive discussion on matters of shared interest, the current state of Pakistan-Iran relations, and avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Interior Minister Naqvi extended warm congratulations to President Pezeshkian, praising Iran's success in the recent conflict and commending the steadfast leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

He acknowledged the Supreme Leader's strategic foresight and the unity of the Iranian nation in standing against aggression, calling it a moment of pride for the broader Muslim world.

Naqvi reiterated that Pakistan had vocally opposed the assault on Iran across all international platforms, and was the first to formally pass a parliamentary resolution condemning the outbreak of war.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance in support of Iran’s right to defend its sovereignty. The Interior Minister also delivered a message of goodwill and solidarity from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the Iranian leadership.

President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan's consistent and principled support during the hostilities.

He emphasized that Iran values its relationship with Pakistan and deeply appreciates the stance it took in a time of need.

Highlighting broader regional concerns, he accused the Zionist regime of attempting to destabilize unity among Muslim countries and underscored the necessity of stronger cohesion among Islamic nations.

He asserted that a united Islamic bloc could serve as an effective counter to such divisive agendas.

The Iranian president expressed satisfaction with the current level of engagement between Tehran and Islamabad and advocated for expanded diplomatic efforts and constructive communication to unlock further opportunities for collaboration.

He noted that both nations have significant potential for closer partnership in various fields.

The meeting was attended by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, the Iranian President’s Special Assistant, as well as the ambassadors of both countries, reflecting the importance of the discussions held.
