Zardari reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to CASA-1000 project during Tajik defence minister visit

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to ensuring the timely completion of the CASA-1000 project, a major initiative aimed at developing renewable energy infrastructure.

He made the remarks while welcoming Tajikistan’s Defence Minister, Colonel General Sabirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim, along with his delegation, during their visit to Islamabad.

President Zardari highlighted the enduring and multi-dimensional relationship between Pakistan and Tajikistan, rooted in shared history, culture, and linguistic ties.

He emphasized the importance of deepening political, cultural, and people-to-people interactions to further strengthen these bonds.

Describing Tajikistan as a vital bridge to Central Asia, he noted that Pakistan serves as a gateway to international waters for the landlocked country.

The President underscored that both nations could play a key role in fostering regional peace and stability.

He also stressed the need to fully explore the substantial potential for trade and investment between the two countries.

Reflecting on defence collaboration, he expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation, evident through frequent high-level military exchanges.

President Zardari pointed to the successful execution of the Dosti-II defence exercise as a testament to the historic and friendly ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

In turn, the Tajik Defence Minister conveyed his country’s eagerness to expand cooperation with Pakistan across multiple sectors, signaling a commitment to strengthening the partnership further.
