Pakistan strongly condemns Israeli attack on Iran

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned the “unjustified and illegitimate” aggression by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, reaffirming that it stands in resolute solidarity with the government and the people of Iran.

“The Israeli military strikes violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and clearly contravene the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law. Iran has the right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement.

He said that Pakistan stands in “resolute solidarity” with the people of Iran and unequivocally denounced these blatant provocations, which constituted a grave danger and a serious threat to the peace, security, and stability of the entire region and beyond, with serious implications.

The spokesperson said that the international community and the United Nations (UN) had the responsibility to uphold international law, stop this aggression immediately and hold the aggressor accountable for its actions.

Senate, NA pass resolutions condemning Israeli aggression against Iran

The Senate on Friday unanimously passed a resolution condemning Israeli aggression against Iran.

The resolution moved by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said the House stands resolute with Iranian brethren and supports their right to defend themselves against Israeli aggression.

It noted that Israeli attack is a blatant violation of fundamental principles of the United Nations (UN) and all international norms, and has put peace and security in the region and beyond in grave danger.

The resolution unequivocally condemned Israel’s heinous crimes against Muslim Ummah especially against brotherly nations of Palestine and Iran.

The resolution mentioned that over the years, Israel has been source of countless deaths of Muslims around the world particularly in occupied Palestine.

It said the world and Muslim Ummah are witnessing the slaughter of innocent children and civilians in Gaza for last two years on an unimaginable scale.

The resolution expressed concern over the inaction of Muslim world against this genocide, which has now led Israel to attack another sovereign Muslim state Iran.  

Separately The National Assembly (NA) also passed a unanimous resolution on Friday strongly condemning the unjustified and illegitimate aggression by Israel against the brotherly Islamic Republic of Iran.

The resolution said that the attack has caused grave loss of lives and property to the Iranian People.

The resolution was tabled by Pakistan Peoples Party Syed Naveed Qamar in the house said “This House notes with utter disgust and dismay that the strikes carried in the dark hours of June 13, is not only a serious violation of the sovereignty and integrity of a United Nations Member state but it also clearly contravenes the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

"This House warns that such continued blatant acts of aggression by Israel have brought not only the Middle East but the entire world into serious dangers, the consequence of which shall entirely rest on Israel," the resolution added.

The resolution further said, Iran has a right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The House reiterates that Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with the Government, Parliament and the people of the Islamic Iran and prays for those who lost their lives in this attack.

The House called upon the government to immediately call for a meeting of the UN Security Council and the OIC to discuss, condemn and bring an immediate halt to the aggression in Iran.

In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, Israel on Friday launched a large-scale aerial attack on Iran, targeting key locations in and around the capital, Tehran, as well as several other major cities.

The strikes, which occurred overnight on June 13, were part of a military operation dubbed "Rising Lion" and involved more than 200 Israeli fighter jets.

The targets included nuclear facilities, missile production plants, and high-level military command centers. Reports suggest the operation was coordinated with the United States.

According to Iranian state media, the attacks resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian military figures and nuclear scientists.

Among those killed were Major General Hossein Salami, the Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces.

Also confirmed dead was Major General Gholamali Rashid, Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters, which oversees Iran’s military planning and operations.

Ali Shamkhani, a prominent political advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was also killed in the strikes.

In addition to military leaders, the operation also claimed the lives of key figures in Iran's nuclear program. Fereydoun Abbasi, a former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, a nuclear physicist and president of the Islamic Azad University, were both killed in separate strikes.

Other scientists reported killed include Abdulhamid Minouchehr, Ahmadreza Zolfaghari, Seyyed Amirhossein Faqhi, and Motlabizadeh.

Civilian casualties have also been reported. In Tehran's northern district of Tajrish, more than 50 people were injured, including 35 women and children, highlighting the human cost of the military offensive beyond the targeted figures.

Following the strikes, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei delivered a televised address to the nation, confirming the assassinations and promising a severe retaliatory response. He accused Israel of committing an act of war that had sealed a “bitter and painful destiny” for itself.
