Pakistan stands resolutely with Iran against Israeli aggression: PM Shehbaz 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with President of Iran Dr Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the call, the prime minister conveyed Pakistan’s firm solidarity with the brotherly people and government of Iran in the face of what he described as Israel’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression.

PM Shehbaz strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran, stating that they violated the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and were in blatant defiance of the UN Charter and international law.

He emphasized that Iran had every right to self-defence as outlined under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Offering heartfelt condolences to President Pezeshkian over the loss of precious lives resulting from the attacks, PM Shehbaz recalled Pakistan’s support for Iran during the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) emergency meeting held on Friday.

He denounced Israel’s actions as dangerous provocations and adventurism, warning that such behaviour posed a serious threat to regional and global peace and stability.

In addition, the prime minister condemned what he called Israel’s ongoing genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people, which he said was being carried out with complete impunity.

He called on the international community and the United Nations (UN) to take urgent and credible measures to halt Israel’s aggressive conduct and illegal actions. Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, the Prime Minister expressed the country’s willingness to play a constructive role in that regard.

President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and solidarity at this difficult time, particularly at the UN Security Council.

He noted that this gesture reflected the close and brotherly ties between Iran and Pakistan.

The Iranian president shared Iran’s perspective on the crisis with Israel and underscored the need for the international community, especially the Islamic world, to collaborate closely in countering these threats.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close contact in the days ahead.
