Qatar declares four-day mourning over death of former emir Sheikh Hamad

Doha (Web Desk): Qatar has declared four days of national mourning following the passing of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, with national flags to be flown at half-mast across the country as a mark of respect.

According to an official announcement by the Qatari authorities, all ministries, government departments, and public institutions will remain closed from July 13 during the mourning period.

The government has also issued details regarding the funeral and official mourning ceremonies, which are expected to be attended by members of the ruling family, senior government officials, foreign dignitaries, and other prominent figures.

The funeral prayer for the late former emir is scheduled to be held today at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab Grand Mosque in Doha. Following the funeral, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will be laid to rest at Lusail Cemetery.

Tributes have continued to pour in from across Qatar, with the country's leadership, government institutions, and citizens expressing profound grief over the loss of the former ruler.

Condolence messages praised his leadership and acknowledged his significant role in Qatar's modernization, economic transformation, infrastructure development, and growing influence on the regional and international stage.
