Pakistan declares National Day of mourning over death of former Qatari Emir

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan has announced a National Day of Mourning on Sunday following the death of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared the day of mourning to express solidarity with the government and people of Qatar after the passing of the former ruler.

The Cabinet Division has issued an official notification stating that the national flag will fly at half-mast across the country on July 13 as a mark of respect.

Pakistan also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the Government of Qatar, the Qatari royal family, and the people of Qatar, reaffirming its support during this time of grief.

According to government sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Qatar on Sunday to offer condolences to the Qatari leadership over the death of the former emir.

During the visit, the prime minister is also expected to meet Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other senior officials, will accompany the prime minister on the visit.
