Monsoon rains to intensify in Pakistan from July 13: PMD

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting another spell of monsoon rains to hit various parts of the country, starting from July 13, with increasing intensity in the coming days.

According to the Met Office, moist currents are already entering most regions of the country, while a fresh westerly weather system is also expected to enter by Sunday evening, potentially enhancing rainfall activity.

Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan: Intermittent showers are expected till July 17, with chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Several districts are likely to experience thunderstorms and rain, with heavy downpours at isolated places.

Punjab and Islamabad: Upper and central Punjab, including the federal capital, may see on-and-off rainfall until July 17, with intense showers in certain locations.

Southern Punjab: Rain is also forecasted in several districts from July 13 to July 17.

Balochistan: Northeastern and southern parts of the province are expected to receive light to moderate rain between July 13 and 16, with isolated incidents of heavy rainfall.

Sindh: Areas such as Karachi, Tharparkar, and Mirpurkhas may experience moderate showers from July 15 to 17.

The PMD has advised citizens and local authorities to remain alert for potential urban flooding, landslides, and water accumulation in low-lying areas due to the expected rainfall.
