Balaj murder case: Key suspect Teefi Butt killed in police custody by his own accomplices: CCD

Rahim Yar Khan (Web Desk): Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, widely known as Teefi Butt and identified as the prime suspect in the murder of Ameer Balaj, was killed on Saturday when his companions exchanged fire with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Punjab.

Police sources said the incident occurred in Rahim Yar Khan district while CCD officials were taking the accused for further interrogation in connection with the murder case.

Teefi Butt had been brought back from Dubai only a day earlier after he reportedly agreed to return to Pakistan and stand trial. According to authorities, the CCD team came under attack from armed men attempting to free the suspect during his transfer.

Law enforcement officials claimed that during the shootout, Teefi Butt was hit and killed by gunfire from his own accomplices.

He, along with Khawaja Aqeel alias Gogi Butt and several others, had been nominated in the FIR for the killing of Ameer Balaj, who was slain last year in 2024. Balaj was attending a wedding ceremony in a private housing society when a shooter, identified as Muzaffar Hussain—believed to be associated with Teefi Butt—opened fire, killing him on the spot. Hussain was later shot dead immediately after the incident.

The victim, Ameer Balaj, was the son of Arif Ameer, commonly known as Tepu Truckanwala, who himself was killed in a gun attack at Lahore airport in 2010.
