JIT finds Gogi Butt 'guilty' in Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case

Lahore (We Desk): A joint investigation team (JIT) in Lahore on Tuesday declared Khawaja Aqeel, also known as Gogi Butt, guilty in the high-profile Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case, according to sources on Tuesday.

As per the JIT sources, Gogi Butt played a key role in planning the murder, staying in contact with the main accused, Khawaja Tareef (Teefi Butt), and other conspirators. Gogi Butt has previously been linked to several cases connected to the Tipu family.

The JIT plans to request the court to revoke Gogi Butt’s bail during an upcoming hearing. Ameer Balaj Tipu was shot dead on February 19, 2024, at a wedding event in Lahore’s Chuhung area.

The shooter, Muzaffar Hussain, who was once a gunman for Teefi Butt, carried out the attack due to a long-standing dispute. Muzaffar was killed immediately after the incident.

Further inquiries uncovered that Ahsan Shah, a close ally of the victim, had provided crucial information to the attackers that facilitated the murder. Ahsan Shah was later killed in what authorities described as an encounter.

Earlier, Muhammad Javed Butt, Teefi Butt’s brother-in-law, was fatally shot near Lahore’s Muslim Town underpass.

This case has attracted widespread attention due to the involvement of influential individuals and the complicated network of rivalries and connections within the region.
