In phone call, PM Shehbaz, Iranian president discuss evolving regional situation and bilateral ties

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the prevailing regional situation in a phone call on Wednesday.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation during which the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and bilateral relations in detail.

During the call, President Pezeshkian expressed serious concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East, warning that the growing aggression in the region could have far-reaching consequences.

He urged the international community to hold the United States and Israel accountable for what he described as recent attacks and provocations against Iran.

The Iranian president cautioned that failure to stop such actions and identify those responsible could pose a serious threat to global peace and security.

Both leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to working together for regional stability and emphasized the importance of further strengthening the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran.

PM Shehbaz expressed serious concern over the recent rise in regional tensions, emphasising that Pakistan views dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the most effective means of ensuring peace, stability and de-escalation. 

He stressed that all sides should exercise maximum restraint and act with responsibility to avoid any further worsening of the situation.

PM Shehbaz further stated that Pakistan greatly values its deep-rooted historical, religious and cultural connections with Iran and is committed to strengthening bilateral collaboration between the two countries. 

The premier reaffirmed Islamabad’s determination to expand cooperation and engagement with Tehran across all levels.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, for his part, reiterated Tehran’s commitment to deepening its relationship with Pakistan and noted that both nations should work jointly to support peace and stability in the wider region.

He also shared Iran’s perspective with the prime minister regarding the latest regional developments.

Both leaders agreed to stay in regular contact and continue consultations as the regional situation evolves in order to pursue their shared objectives of peace, stability and development. They also expressed agreement on widening cooperation in different sectors and maintaining ongoing high-level interactions between the two countries.
