Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier Imran Khan on Saturday announced to lead party's election rally in Lahore on Sunday.
Addressing the supporters via video link from his Lahore's Zaman Park residence, the PTI chief urged party workers to participate in the rally.
Imran Khan accused the Punjab caretaker government of covering up PTI worker Ali Bilal’s death, and urged the Lahore High Court (LHC) to constitute a judicial commission to probe the matter.
Hitting back hard on the provincial authorities, the former premier termed the Punjab police as “savages”, saying that he could not believe “what they did to a special person (Bilal)”.
The PTI had claimed that party worker Ali Bilal, also known as zille Shah' died in police custody after personnel launched a crackdown on party workers and supporters protesting near Khan's Zaman Park residence.
Earlier today, Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, addressing a press conference along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar, rejected PTI's allegations that its worker Ali Bilal was killed in police custody.
The Punjab CM said that his administration was not involved in the incident and that the PTI should refrain from levelling "baseless allegations".
Addressing the presser, Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar also denied PTI's allegations saying that the evidence clearly indicated that this was an accident case.
On Wednesday, the PTI planned on holding its rally but the interim Punjab government banned public gatherings and rallies by imposing Section 144 in light of "security threats", resulting in a clash between police and the party's workers.
Later, the PTI announced to suspend election rally asking party workers to return to their homes "peacefully" after police arrested several people for violating Section 144 in the provincial capital.
