According to Neo News, the troubling incident occurred, when Safina Khan, who was covering the demonstration as part of her professional duties, was surrounded by a group of protestors.
She was subjected to abusive behavior and forcibly pushed while her mobile phone was also snatched during the chaos.
Eyewitnesses present at the scene confirmed that the journalist was verbally assaulted and physically mishandled, creating a hostile and unsafe environment for her to work in.
The aggression appeared to escalate when certain individuals from within the crowd began using threatening language and gestures, showing complete disregard for press freedom and journalistic safety.
As per the report, some senior PTI activists were also present during the incident and Instead of intervening to defuse the situation or protect the journalist, they allegedly encouraged the aggressive behavior or failed to take any meaningful action to stop it.
This aspect of the event has raised serious concerns about the PTI's internal culture regarding the treatment of media professionals, particularly women.
