DPM Dar, Saudi FM call for de-escalation in region

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Saturday, during which the two sides exchanged views on recent regional developments.

Both leaders expressed serious concerns over the worsening situation despite the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran last month.

They agreed that the renewed escalation of tensions does not serve the interests of any party and could undermine ongoing efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.

During the conversation, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s appeal for all sides to exercise maximum restraint and provide sufficient time and space for mediation efforts to help achieve a peaceful and constructive resolution.

The Saudi foreign minister briefed his Pakistani counterpart on the Kingdom’s perspective regarding ongoing diplomatic initiatives and underscored the importance of reducing tensions and keeping channels of dialogue open.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close communication and continue consultations on regional developments.
