Islamabad (Web Desk): President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.
On his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, President Aliyev was warmly received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with his cabinet members including Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar.
A 21-gun salute boomed in the backdrop to herald the arrival of the dignitary and two children, clad in traditional dresses, presented bouquets to him.
President Ilham Aliyev also visited Shakar Paryan in Islamabad and laid floral wreath at monument of Pakistan.
Later, President Ilham Aliyev was given a guard of honour as he arrived at the Prime Minister’s House, along with his high-powered delegation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed the visiting dignitary on his arrival at the venue of the formal welcome ceremony.
The national anthems of both countries were played as the Azerbaijan President stood at the salute dais along with the prime minister.
The smartly turned-out contingents of the armed forces presented a guard of honour to President Aliyev.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also hosted a formal reception in honour of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev in Islamabad this evening.
During the visit, the President of Azerbaijan is set to hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The two sides will engage in wide-ranging discussions on areas of mutual interest to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Several agreements and memorandum of understandings (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit.
