PM Shehbaz, President Ilham vow to further strengthen Pak-Azerbaijan bilateral cooperation

Tianjin (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev engaged in comprehensive discussions covering a wide range of bilateral cooperation areas, including trade, investment, energy, connectivity, defense, education, and cultural exchanges.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory and strengthening of relations between their countries.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of State summit, held in Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing.

During the talks, PM Shehbaz extended his congratulations to President Aliyev on the recent signing of a landmark peace accord between Azerbaijan and Armenia, highlighting it as a crucial milestone toward durable peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.

The two leaders also recognized the significance of regional connectivity initiatives and the value of cooperation within multilateral platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to foster economic growth and regional integration.

They exchanged views on evolving global challenges and committed to maintaining close collaboration on international issues.

President Aliyev conveyed his sympathies regarding the severe floods affecting Pakistan, expressing solidarity on behalf of the Azerbaijani government and people during this difficult time.

PM Shehbaz extended an invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan soon, further reinforcing the friendly ties between the two nations.
