PML-N to form AJK govt with around two-thirds majority, says Rana Sanaullah

Islamabad (Web Desk): Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan has expressed the confidence that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will secure enough seats to establish its government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with nearly a two-thirds majority.

Speaking to journalists in Islamabad alongside Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Minister Amir Muqam, he said that the AJK elections had been conducted in a transparent, impartial and orderly manner.

Rana Sanaullah said that attempts by certain elements to derail the electoral process and create disruption in the region had ultimately failed.

He also appealed to the participants of the sit-in in Rawalakot to end their protest, pointing out that the people of Azad Kashmir had already exercised their democratic right and handed their mandate to their chosen representatives.

Rana Sanaullah said the elected administration would use democratic and constitutional mechanisms to tackle the challenges faced by the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

However, he stressed that individuals who had resorted to armed action or worked in a way that benefited hostile forces would have to face the law, making it clear that legal proceedings would continue against them.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam thanked the people of AJK for showing their confidence in the PML-N.

He said voters participated in the elections in significant numbers and exercised their right to choose their representatives.

The minister further assured the people that the commitments made to them during the election campaign would be honoured and fulfilled.
