Punjab CM Maryam meets World Bank President Ajay Banga

Lahore (Web Desk): World Bank (WB) President Ajay Banga, along with his delegation, met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday to discuss strengthening cooperation in vital sectors such as health, education, housing, sanitation, and climate resilience. The discussions also reviewed the ongoing partnership between the World Bank and the Punjab government, focusing on projects in tourism, education, health, and skills development.
During the meeting, WB President Banga praised the Chief Minister’s welfare initiatives and described the province’s development programs as exemplary.

He assured continued support and investment in key areas including climate resilience, digital governance, and inclusive economic growth.

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz welcomed the World Bank’s collaboration and emphasized that health and education remain the government’s top priorities, with substantial investments being made to improve these sectors. 
She reaffirmed Punjab’s commitment to a sustained partnership with the World Bank, highlighting the importance of financial stability and practical business models in the province’s development agenda.

The Punjab CM outlined the “Connected Punjab Program,” being implemented with WB support support, and underlined the significance of the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) in enhancing IT infrastructure and fostering economic growth.

She also highlighted the government’s efforts to boost digital payments, governance, and agricultural productivity, noting that digital initiatives aim to increase transparency, efficiency, and overall development. 
Projects such as the IT City, global IT certifications, and e-procurement were cited as examples of improved governance systems

Additionally, CM Maryam Nawaz drew attention to World Bank-supported irrigation reforms, the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” initiative for affordable housing, and social welfare programs including the “Nigehban Package” and “Himmat Card,” which are designed to assist deserving citizens.
