India shuts down 27 airports amid fears of Pakistani retaliation

New Delhi (Web Desk/Agencies): India's state-run media has confirmed that 90 flights including five international flights were cancelled today at Delhi Airport due to widespread airport closures across the country.

According to Press Trust of India (PTI), both incoming and outgoing flights were suspended as a result of precautionary shutdowns at multiple airports. The move comes amid fears of a retaliatory response from Pakistan following recent tensions between the two countries.

India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) stating that 27 airports across the country will remain closed until 5:29 AM on May 10.

As reported by The Hindu, the affected airports include:
Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Patiala, Shimla, Dharamshala, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Kishangarh, Bhuj, Bhodrah (Rajasthan), Kandla, and Keshod.

The report further noted that many of these airports are used jointly by civilian airlines and the Indian Air Force, adding to the scale of disruption.

This large-scale air travel suspension has caused significant inconvenience to passengers, especially in northern and western regions of India, and marks a serious impact on the country’s aviation network.
