New chief justices of SHC, PHC sworn in 

Karachi/ Peshawar: (Web Desk): The newly appointed chief justices of the Sindh High Court and the Peshawar High Court officially assumed their roles in separate oath-taking ceremonies held in Karachi and Peshawar, respectively.

In Karachi, Justice Mohammad Junaid Ghaffar was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court.

The ceremony took place at a historically significant venue where the Founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, once took oath as the nation’s first Governor-General. This marked the first time such a judicial ceremony was held at this iconic location.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori administered the oath in the presence of key dignitaries, including Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other prominent officials. Following the ceremony, Justice Ghaffar paid his respects at the Mazar-e-Quaid, where he offered fateha and laid a floral wreath.

On the same day in Peshawar, Justice S.M. Atiq Shah was administered the oath as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court () at a formal event held at the Governor House.

The oath was taken before Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, with Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and a host of other dignitaries in attendance.

The event drew federal and provincial leaders, members of the judiciary, senior lawyers, administrative heads, and law enforcement officials.

After the ceremony, Governor Kundi held a meeting with Chief Justice Atiq Shah and senior PHC judges.

During the meeting, they discussed the province’s overall law and order situation and emphasized the judiciary’s vital role in ensuring justice and maintaining societal balance.

The governor highlighted the need for strong coordination between the judiciary and the executive to uphold the rule of law and respond effectively to citizens’ concerns.

He also praised the judiciary’s ongoing efforts in promoting constitutional principles and delivering timely justice.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen legal institutions and maintain peace and stability in the region.
