Law Ministry notifies appointments of acting chief justices of 4 high courts

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Ministry of Law and Justice on Thursday issued official notifications regarding the temporary appointments of four chief justices in four high courts across Pakistan.

According to the notification, Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar has been entrusted with the responsibility of Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), a position he will hold until a permanent appointment is made.

Meanwhile, the law ministry confirmed the elevation of several other distinguished jurists to the acting role of chief justice in other provincial high courts.

As per the notification, Justice S.M. Attique Shah has been assigned as the Acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), while Justice Junaid Ghaffar will assume the position of Acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC).

Furthermore, Justice Muhammad Ejaz Swati has been appointed to the position of Acting Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC).

 "In exercise of the powers conferred under Article 196 of the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President of Pakistan, is pleased to make the appointments of Acting Chief Justices of aforesaid high courts," the notification read.
