Lahore (Staff Report): The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday claimed to have foiled a terror bid and killing four alleged Tehreek-e-Taliban terrorists in an encounter near Sagian Bridge.
According to the CTD, police were deployed at all entry and exit points of the Punjab capital to curb threats of more attacks looming after the Bund Road blast.
The CTD team in Sheikhupura received information from a credible source saying that six or seven TTP terrorists were coming to Lahore from Sheikhupura.
As police approached a vehicle for a search, armed men inside the vehicle opened fire, according to CTD officials.
Four suspected Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan terrorists were "found dead" after a gunfight with CTD personnel, whereas three to four others fled the scene of the "encounter", the official added.
CTD claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the custody of the slain terrorists.
At least one person was killed and 46 others were injured in an explosion at Sagian Bridge near the Bund Road area in what authorities say was a truck carrying fruits.
