Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday held separate discussions with the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia to deliberate on regional peace, security and the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East amid continuing conflict.
Regional tensions intensified last week after air strikes carried out by the United States and Israel resulted in the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with several senior Iranian officials.
The development prompted retaliatory strikes from Iran and contributed to a widening confrontation across the region.
Following the incident, Iran launched attacks on US military installations located in a number of Gulf states, a move that sharply raised the level of the ongoing conflict.
As the situation continues to evolve, Pakistan’s leadership has increased diplomatic outreach in an attempt to help contain the crisis, particularly the growing tensions between Iran and Gulf countries.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan on X, Dar spoke by phone with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the conversation, both leaders reviewed the latest regional developments and emphasized the need to preserve peace and stability.
The statement noted that Dar also conveyed concern over recent attacks in the region, including those directed at the UAE, and assured the Emirati leadership of Pakistan’s support and solidarity with its people.

In another telephone conversation, Dar also engaged with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan.

The Foreign Office (FO) said both sides also agreed to stay in regular contact as the situation continues to unfold.

Dar also spoke again on Saturday with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The two foreign ministers had already discussed the matter a day earlier
