Soldier martyred, 12 Khawarij killed in North Waziristan IBO: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Security forces have killed twelve Khwarij in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in general area of Hassan Khel in North Waziristan district, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), own troops effectively engaged the Khwarij location on reported presence of terrorists on 5-6 February 2025.

“However, during intense fire exchange, Lance Naik Muhammad Ibrahim (age: 34 years, resident of District Hangu), having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat,” the statement said.

It said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as target killing of innocent civilians.

The military’s media wing said that sanitization operation was being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Acting President Yousaf Raza Gilani have commended the security forces for conducting successful operation against Fitna-al-Khwarij at general area of Hassan Khel in North Waziristan District.  

In their separate messages, they appreciated the bravery of security forces for killing the twelve Khwarij in this operation.

Both paid rich tribute to the Shaheed Lance Naik Muhammad Ibrahim who embraced martyrdom in this operation.

They vowed to eliminate all forms and manifestation of terrorism in the country.
