DPM Dar reaffirms Pakistan’s resolve to continue efforts for regional peace

Islamabad  (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reiterated Pakistan’s determination to continue efforts aimed at restoring peace in the region.

Briefing the Senate today, he said Islamabad is focused on finding a dignified and peaceful solution to ongoing regional conflicts.

“Since day one, Pakistan has been making all-out efforts to end the conflict, acting as a mediator and facilitator,” he added, emphasizing that careful and measured steps are needed due to the sensitive nature of the situation.

He further noted that recent attacks on Iran and Saudi Arabia have added complexity to the regional scenario.

The session began with a debate on rising petroleum prices and the regional situation. Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas praised Pakistan’s persistent efforts to help resolve the conflict and noted that the Middle East war has contributed to a surge in oil prices in Pakistan and globally.

He urged collective action to guide the country through current challenges.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar explained that the recent hike in petroleum prices was due to unprecedented increases in international rates and highlighted that the government is providing targeted subsidies to assist vulnerable segments of society.

Meanwhile, Maulana Atta Ur Rehman called for further reductions in petroleum prices to ease the burden on citizens.

Other lawmakers contributing to the discussion included Dr. Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur, Khalil Tahir, and Noor Ul Haq Qadri.

The Senate is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow afternoon.
