Lahore (Web Desk) veteran radio, TV and film actor Qavi Khan passed away after protracted illness in Canada at the age of 80 on Sunday night.
Born in Peshawar, Muhammad Qavi Khan started his career from Radio Pakistan Peshawar as a drama artist and later shifted to Lahore when Pakistan Television (PTV) started its service from there in 1964.
He also performed in PTV Lahore’s first Drama “Nazrana” as hero and later performed many memorable roles in different plays telecast from PTV including “Andhera Ujala” “Din” and others.
Qavi Khan also acted in a number of films and established his unique style of acting on the silver screen.
Government of Pakistan awarded him with Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of acting.
President Dr Arif Alvi has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of renowned artist Muhammad Qavi Khan.
In a statement today, he said has been deprived of a great artist. He said services rendered by deceased artist will never be forgotten.
The president also extended his condolence and sympathy with the bereaved family.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned artist Muhammad Qavi Khan.
In a statement, he termed the death of Qavi Khan an irreparable loss for the field of art.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier also expressed condolences on Qavi Khan's death.
“Saddened to learn of the passing of famous actor Qavi Khan. My prayers & condolences go to his family,” the PTI chairman tweeted.
Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the demise of renowned actor Qavi Khan.
In his condolence message, the Senate chairman paid glowing tribute to Qavi Khan’s contributions to the world of entertainment.
“The vacuum created by Qavi Khan’s death will not fill till last,” Sanjrani said, adding that his outstanding services in the showbiz industry will always be remembered.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of veteran actor Qavi Khan.
In a condolence message, the minister prayed to the Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
She said the demise of Qavi Khan was a great loss to the industry. He was not only a good actor but also a thorough gentleman.
