Punjab CM Maryam urges responsible celebrations as Basant festivities begin

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has termed Basant a treasured part of the province’s cultural identity, noting that it represents the pride people take in their longstanding traditions.

In her message to the public, she called on citizens to celebrate the festival by spreading happiness among one another while acting responsibly and keeping the safety of others in mind throughout the celebrations.

To ensure convenient travel during the three days of Basant, she announced that 419 buses will continue to run across the province, and passengers will also be able to use the Orange Line Metro Train free of charge.

The chief minister reiterated that kite flying with metallic wire, sharp string, bulletproof material, or any form of illegal twine is strictly banned. She further said that drones will be deployed to monitor activities during the festival to help enforce the rules and protect public safety.
