Islamabad blast: Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz cancels Basant events in Lahore

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has canceled all her Basant-related engagements in the wake of the Taralai blast.

Additionally, the much-anticipated mega Basant show in Lahore’s Liberty area has also been called off to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.

In a message posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Maryam Nawaz stated that the entire nation stands united against terrorism, and there is no mercy for the extremists. She emphasized that the whole country stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Armed Forces in defending the homeland.

The Chief Minister stressed that postponing festivals like Basant at such a sensitive time is a necessary step to safeguard national security and protect the public. She urged all citizens to cooperate in maintaining peace and remain united against terrorism.

The Taralai blast has raised concerns about security across the country, prompting the government to halt all public gatherings and events where potential security threats may exist.

This move aligns with the ongoing National Action Plan aimed at establishing complete peace and security in the country and cracking down on terrorism. Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of national unity and collective responsibility in defending the nation during these challenging times.
