At least 16 killed in clashes as anti-inflation demonstrations intensify across Iran, claim rights groups

Tehran (Web Desk): Protests against rising inflation in Iran have entered their second week, with violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces intensifying.

According to human rights groups, at least 16 people have been reported dead so far, including security personnel.

The protests began on December 28 with a strike by shopkeepers in Tehran and have since spread to over 220 cities across Iran, including Tehran, Shiraz, and various western provinces.

In response to the situation, US President Donald Trump has warned that if the killing of protesters continues, the United States will respond strongly to Iran. International organizations and human rights groups are closely monitoring the ongoing protests and violence, while the Iranian government has been taking strict measures to suppress the demonstrations.
