Iran announces major relief package amid rising inflation and protests

Tehran (Web Desk):  In response to rising inflation and ongoing protests, the Iranian government has announced a major relief package for its citizens. According to government sources, the move aims to ease the increasing economic pressure on the public and help with the purchase of essential goods.

Fatimah Mahajerani, a government spokesperson, announced on state television that every Iranian citizen will receive a monthly allowance of 1 million tomans, which is approximately equivalent to seven U.S. dollars. This amount will be transferred to citizens' bank accounts for the next four months. The allowance will be provided to all citizens without discrimination, ensuring that as many people as possible benefit from this relief.

Mahajerani further stated that the government is fully aware of the challenges the people are facing, and that providing immediate relief has become necessary given the current situation. She explained that this financial support will help citizens buy essential items and alleviate some of the effects of inflation.

It is important to note that Iran is currently experiencing a severe economic crisis. Sanctions imposed by the United States and other Western countries, particularly related to Iran's nuclear program, have severely impacted the Iranian economy. Official statistics indicate that inflation reached 52% in December, leading to increased public unrest.

Protests, sparked by rising inflation, unemployment, and economic uncertainty, have now entered their eighth day. Reports suggest that these protests have spread to 40 cities across Iran, with the most significant demonstrations occurring in the western regions. There have also been reports of violent incidents during some protests. According to government sources, at least 12 people have been killed, including security personnel.

Authorities have stated that measures are being taken to control the situation, and the economic relief package is being seen as a crucial step in reducing public anger.
