Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the enduring relationship between Pakistan and the US, noting that the two countries have maintained a “true and special relationship” for more than eight decades.

Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the 250th anniversary of United States Independence, the premier said that the history of the United States is a remarkable journey of hope, resilience, and enlightenment.

He also emphasized the importance of strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and the US, particularly in the fields of counterterrorism, trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

PM Shehbaz said the relationship between Pakistan and the United States spans nearly eight decades, adding that the US was among the first countries to recognize Pakistan after its independence in 1947.

He said this long-standing partnership is based on mutual respect and shared interests, and should be further strengthened for the benefit of both nations.

The prime minister highlighted that the United States has played a significant role in supporting Pakistan’s agricultural sector, particularly during the Green Revolution, which helped improve food security and agricultural productivity in the country.

He further noted the strong educational and people-to-people links between the two countries, stating that thousands of Pakistani students are currently pursuing higher education and training in the United States, contributing to knowledge exchange and capacity building.

PM Shehbaz also pointed out the large Pakistani diaspora in the United States, saying that nearly one million Pakistanis consider the US their second home.

He added that the Pakistani community plays an important role in various sectors of the US economy, strengthening the bond between the two nations.

PM Shehbaz also welcomed US President Donald Trump’s efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in South Asia, stating that his timely intervention played a key role in enabling a ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the United States across multiple sectors, describing the bilateral relationship as broad-based, enduring, and rooted in shared aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity.
