PM Shehbaz apprises Iranian President Pezeshkian of Pakistan's diplomatic outreach efforts for peace talks 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday once again voiced Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of the ongoing Israeli strikes against Iran, drawing attention to the most recent attacks that reportedly hit civilian infrastructure.

According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, the premier spoke by telephone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the call, he apprised the Iranian president about the wide-ranging diplomatic engagements currently being pursued by Pakistan to ease tensions.

The premier explained that he, along with the Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has been reaching out to the United States (US) as well as friendly Gulf and other Islamic countries to help foster an atmosphere supportive of dialogue. 

PM Shehbaz further noted that Pakistan’s peace initiative has received encouraging support at various levels and expressed optimism that joint efforts could help identify a workable way forward to end the conflict.

He reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people, acknowledging the hardships they are facing in these challenging circumstances.

The discussion, which continued for more than an hour, covered the broader situation in the region and the different avenues being explored to restore calm.

PM Shehbaz also conveyed his condolences over the reported loss of more than 1,900 lives, while offering prayers for those injured and displaced.

President Pezeshkian, while appreciating Pakistan’s outreach, presented Iran’s viewpoint on what he described as continued Israeli aggression.

He emphasized that building mutual trust would be essential to enable any meaningful negotiations or mediation process, and commended Pakistan for its supportive stance in promoting peace.

PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude for the Iranian president’s acknowledgment and assured him that Pakistan would remain actively engaged in efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
