Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended felicitations to US President Donald Trump and the people of the United States as the country celebrates the 250th anniversary of its Independence.

President Zardari sent a congratulatory message to President Trump on the occasion marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence.

According to a statement issued by the President Secretariat Media Wing, in a letter to his US counterpart Donald Trump, President Zardari observed that the United States (US) has continued to strengthen its historic legacy through its resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the principles of freedom, democracy, and opportunity.

He remarked that the achievements of the American people over the past two and a half centuries have made a meaningful contribution to global advancement and prosperity.

President Zardari said Pakistan and the US have enjoyed a long-standing partnership founded on mutual respect, shared interests, and a common resolve to promote peace, security, and prosperity.

He also highlighted the valuable role of the Pakistani-American community, noting that its accomplishments have enriched both nations and continue to serve as a lasting link of friendship and mutual understanding.

“Describing the bilateral relationship as being on an ascendant trajectory, characterised by renewed engagement and a shared determination to build a stronger, future-oriented partnership, the president stressed the importance of sustaining this momentum through structured engagement in energy security, trade and investment, defence and counter-terrorism, and other areas of mutual interest,” the statement added.

The president said a robust Pakistan-US partnership plays an important role in strengthening regional peace and stability. He pointed out that its significance was demonstrated in May last year when President Trump successfully helped broker a ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed states.

He further said that with an evolving global landscape, this partnership strengthens, expressing appreciation for the trust and confidence placed by the US in Pakistan’s mediatory role for negotiations with Iran.

The president expressed his firm conviction that a sustainable solution could only be achieved through dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation.

President Zardari also conveyed that the people of Pakistan would be honoured to welcome President Trump to Islamabad whenever it is convenient for him to visit.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended his heartfelt greetings to President Donald J. Trump and the American people on the historic celebration of the 250th anniversary of US Independence.

“Pakistan joins the United States in celebrating this remarkable milestone and the enduring values of freedom, resilience, and democracy. Our two nations enjoy a partnership spanning more than seven decades, strengthened by the invaluable contributions of the Pakistani-American community,” the prime minister said in a post on X handle.

Looking ahead to stronger bilateral ties, Prime Minister Shehbaz said Pakistan remains committed to deepening its partnership with the United States on the basis of mutual respect, shared interests, and constructive cooperation that benefits both countries.

He further observed that history had proven time and again that the US and Pakistan stood together at the most consequential moments, whenever peace and security of the world had been at stake.

“We acknowledge and appreciate President Trump’s vital contribution to peace in South Asia, which helped save hundreds of millions of lives in a potentially devastating war, as well as his steadfast efforts that helped end several major conflicts around the globe,” he further posted.
