President Zardari, PM Shehbaz pay tribute to fallen heroes on Police Martyrs' Day

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan is observing Police Martyrs' Day today (Tuesday) to commemorate the unwavering courage of police officers and personnel who sacrificed their lives while protecting the nation.

The day also serves as an opportunity to stand in solidarity with the families of the fallen heroes who continue to bear the loss of their loved ones.

Special events are being organised at police lines and memorial sites across the country, where officers are presenting guards of honour and laying floral wreaths to pay tribute to those who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have both honoured the sacrifices of Pakistan's police martyrs in separate messages issued on the occasion.

They praised the exceptional bravery, dedication, and selfless commitment displayed by the fallen officers, saying their sacrifices for the country's peace and security will forever remain a source of pride and respect for the nation.

President Zardari stated that the police force continues to play a leading role in the fight against crime, terrorism, and violent extremism.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening police institutions by enhancing professional training, introducing modern technology, and providing the necessary resources to help officers carry out their responsibilities with greater confidence, efficiency, and honour.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the welfare of the families of police martyrs remains one of the government's highest priorities.

He reiterated the government's determination to provide them with every possible form of support, including access to quality education, advanced healthcare services, and various welfare programmes to ensure their well-being.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to police martyrs on Police Martyrs’ Day, describing them as the country’s genuine heroes whose ultimate sacrifices have been instrumental in ensuring national peace, security, and stability.

In his message on the occasion, the interior minister said that the police officers and personnel who embraced martyrdom while protecting law and order and confronting criminal elements hold a permanent and distinguished place in the nation’s history.

He remarked that their unmatched sacrifices have become an enduring part of Pakistan’s legacy and will always be remembered with immense respect and gratitude.

The interior minister applauded the police force for remaining committed to its mission of protecting the public despite working under exceptionally difficult and dangerous conditions.

He said the force has consistently displayed extraordinary courage in the battle against terrorism and crime, making significant contributions to restoring and maintaining peace throughout the country.

Highlighting the importance of their service, Naqvi stated that the sacrifices of police martyrs continue to strengthen the foundations of Pakistan’s peace and stability.

The minister added that the entire nation pays tribute to its fearless police officers and personnel, whose dedication and sense of duty serve as a lasting inspiration for generations to come.

Naqvi also expressed solidarity with the families of the fallen officers, reaffirming the government’s unwavering respect and continued support for those who lost their loved ones while serving the nation, saying that their strength, patience, and sacrifices are deeply valued and shared by every Pakistani.
