Iran has full right to peaceful nuclear energy, Pakistan stands by this principled stance: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Iran is entitled to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and Pakistan firmly supports this principled position.

He made these remarks during a joint press conference with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, who is on his first official visit to Pakistan.

The prime minister warmly welcomed the Iranian President and his delegation, describing Iran as a brotherly and friendly nation.

He said that both sides held in-depth discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations, including economic cooperation, border security, and regional developments.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan's 240 million people strongly condemned Israel's recent aggression against Iran. He praised the courage and resilience of Iran's leadership and military, stating that Iran’s missile strikes had effectively neutralized Israel's defense systems.

The premier also revealed that Pakistan and Iran have set a bilateral trade target of $10 billion and signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) that are expected to evolve into formal agreements.

He reiterated both countries' joint stance against terrorism and affirmed that no form of terrorism would be tolerated along the shared border.

Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the continued bloodshed of innocent civilians. He urged the entire Muslim world to unite and raise a collective voice in support of the oppressed Palestinian people.

He also spoke about the ongoing situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, condemning the violence and calling for the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people.

PM Shehbaz thanked Iran for consistently supporting Pakistan’s position on Kashmir at international forums.
