Islamabad (Staff Report): New Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi received a guard of honour presented by smartly turned-out personnel of the armed forces at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad on Thursday.
According to details, Abbasi formally takes charge as the chief executive of the country, with the guard of honour ceremony.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Abbasi was sworn in as PM of Pakistan after winning the election on the same day by bagging 221 votes in the National Assembly.
Soon after his victory was announced, Prime Minister Abbasi addressed the lower house and said: "I am grateful to you all, for following the democratic process, whether you voted for or against me."
Abbasi on Wednesday said that the government's incoming cabinet would take oath in a couple of days.
He continued, "I am grateful to the people of Pakistan, and I am grateful to the 'people's prime minister', Nawaz Sharif".
