European union announces $350 million emergency aid for Pakistan's flood victims

Brussels (Web Desk): The European Union (EU) has announced $350 million in emergency financial assistance for Pakistan to support victims of the recent devastating floods that have caused widespread destruction across the country.

In an official statement, the EU expressed deep concern over the loss of life and property due to torrential rains and flash floods in various parts of Pakistan. The statement confirmed that the aid package will include lifesaving medical services, clean drinking water, drainage and sanitation systems, and other essential supplies to meet urgent humanitarian needs.

The EU also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster and reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Pakistan during this difficult time.

According to officials, part of the assistance will be delivered in cash grants to affected families, enabling them to purchase basic necessities according to their immediate needs.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the floods have so far claimed 881 lives and left 1,176 people injured across the country. The province of Punjab has been the worst affected, with 223 deaths and 648 injuries recorded.

Casualty figures from other provinces are as follows:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 48 dead, 359 injured
Sindh: 58 dead, 78 injured
Balochistan: 26 dead, 5 injured
Rescue and relief operations are ongoing; however, shortages of medical aid, food, and clean water continue to pose serious challenges in the affected regions.
