Fake degree case: Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri moves SC against SHC verdict

Islamabad  (Web Desk): Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri of the Islamabad High Court has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, challenging a decision issued by the Sindh High Court on September 25 and requesting its annulment.

In his petition, Justice Jahangiri contends that the Sindh High Court unjustly dismissed his application to become a party in the case. He argued that the judgment was delivered without hearing the affected party, which he claims is a clear violation of legal principles. He also noted that the court failed to address the maintainability of the original petition — a key procedural matter.

Justice Jahangiri has named several institutions as respondents in the case, including the Sindh Higher Education Commission, University of Karachi, PEMRA, and other relevant bodies.

The petition further states that the High Court denied him the opportunity to appear in court through legal counsel and did not allow him to present his side of the case. He also argued that the issue concerning his academic degree was not one that could be heard or decided by a constitutional bench.

Justice Jahangiri maintains that the cancellation of his degree was carried out unlawfully and with malicious intent, and has asked the Supreme Court to set aside the Sindh High Court’s decision.
