Islamabad (Web Desk): Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has applauded the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and its field offices for achieving a historic milestone in tax collection for the month of December.

Speaking via video link from Islamabad to FBR officials and teams on the ground, he highlighted the agency’s remarkable performance.

In December 2025, the FBR gathered Rs1,427.1 billion, reaching 99 percent of its monthly target of Rs1,446 billion, marking the highest monthly collection ever recorded.

The finance minister described this achievement as a clear affirmation of the government’s ongoing fiscal reforms and its sustained focus on compliance, enforcement, and digitalization of revenue processes.

He encouraged FBR field teams to further intensify their efforts, urging them to continue expanding the tax base and ensuring broader participation.

Aurangzeb emphasized that improving tax compliance and enforcement remains the most effective way to ease the burden on the formal sector.

He added that the government’s strategy of digitizing the economy, promoting cashless transactions, and strengthening enforcement measures while maintaining smooth business operations is now producing tangible, long-term results.
