Terrorists are enemies of Pakistan, not 'angry elements': Rana Sanullah tells Senate 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan told the Senate on Monday that the militants behind the latest attacks in Balochistan were adversaries of the state, acting on the backing and direction of forces hostile to Pakistan.

Speaking in response to issues raised by Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas, he shared that security operations had so far resulted in the killing of nearly 177 militants. At the same time, the violence had led to the martyrdom of 17 members of law-enforcement agencies and 33 civilians.

He emphasized that those carrying out such atrocities should not be labeled as merely “angry” or “resentful” elements.

Detailing the losses among security personnel, the SAPM said that 10 of those martyred were police officers, six belonged to the Frontier Corps, and one was from the Levies force. He added that the civilian casualties occurred when terrorists attacked houses and residential localities.

He observed that while small armed groups can stage acts of violence in any region, even areas considered relatively safe, the pattern of incidents in Balochistan showed clear signs of organized terrorism rather than sporadic criminal behavior.

Rana Sanaullah further stated that militants had on several occasions stopped passenger buses, inspected passengers’ identity cards, and then killed innocent individuals in front of their families, including women and children.

He said the same level of cruelty was witnessed in assaults on trains, particularly the Jaffar Express, where passengers were held hostage, mistreated, and ultimately murdered in cold blood.

“These actions represent sheer brutality that no reasonable person can defend,” he remarked, dismissing the notion that such groups could be described simply as “disgruntled.” Rana Sanaulla said.
