Uzma Khanum meets PTI founder at Adiala jail, says her brother is 'perfectly fine'

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Uzma Khanum, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Pakistan (PTI) founder Imran Khan, said on Tuesday that her jailed brother was “absolutely fine” after she was permitted to visit him, putting an end to swirling rumours about the former prime minister’s health.

The prison administration granted her access earlier in the day, and a crowd of PTI workers gathered outside the facility to show their support as she went inside for the meeting.

Speaking to journalists following the meeting, Uzma said, “Imran Khan’s health is perfectly fine. But he was extremely frustrated and told me that he is being mentally tormented.”

“Imran Khan spends almost the entire day inside his cell and is only taken out briefly,” she said, adding that the PTI founder had no contact with anyone and that their meeting lasted around 30 minutes.

Azma Khanum’s remarks came at a time when PTI supporters were staging demonstrations outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Adiala Jail to protest what they called unjust restrictions placed on Imran Khan’s visitation rights.

The party insists that his family members and its senior leadership have been unable to meet him for several weeks.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also stated that no one had been allowed to see Imran Khan or his wife, Bushra Bibi, since October 27.

Ahead of the PTI protests, authorities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi enforced Section 144 — a legal provision that authorises district administrations to temporarily ban gatherings of more than four people.
