Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): After successful negotiations with the government of Punjab, the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah’s (TLY) led by Maulana Asif Jalali, which had been staging a sit-in on Lahore’s Mall Road for the past week, ended their protest late Friday night.
The sit-in was ended after a final round of negotiations between representatives of the Punjab government and the protesters remained fruitful. Both the sides agreed to publish the report compiled by the Raja Zafarul Haq committee by December 20.
The protesters had alleged that the government had "dumped" the bodies of the party's supporters "killed" in the Islamabad operation; demanded blood money for those affected; demanded Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah's resignation; and demanded that the report compiled by a Raja Zafarul Haq-led commission to investigate the Elections Act 2017 controversy made public.
Both sides also settled on the formation of a committee tasked with probing into the matter of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.
Following the negotiations, Jalali announced he was concluding the sit-in as all of the group’s demands had been accepted.
However, he also threatened to start street agitation again if, after a month, the accord was not implemented.
