Lahore (Web Desk): The 58th death anniversary of the celebrated Urdu poet Shakeb Jalali is being observed today (Tuesday).

Born as Syed Hassan Rizvi on October 1, 1934, in Aligarh, India, he migrated to Pakistan in 1950 following the partition of the subcontinent.

Shakeb Jalali's poetry, with its distinctive voice and modern sensibility, revolutionized the realm of the Urdu ghazal, imbuing it with a contemporary tone that resonated deeply with his audience.

His debut collection, Roushni Aye Roushni, was published posthumously in 1972, after his untimely death.

In 2004, Sang-e-Meel Publications compiled his complete poetic works under the title Kulliyat-e-Shakeb Jalali, a tribute to his literary legacy.

Sadly, Shakeb Jalali's life was cut short when he died on November 12, 1966, in Sargodha at the age of just 32.

Despite his short life, Jalali’s poignant verse endures, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of Urdu literature and continuing to echo through the hearts of his admirers.
