Rainfall sweeps Punjab and KP, raising alarm among farmers as wheat crop faces potential damage

Lahore (Web Desk): Rain and strong winds have caused significant damage to the ready-to-harvest wheat crop in several areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, sparking concern among farmers.

According to reports, strong winds and rainfall in the plains have badly affected the wheat crop. Large portions of the crop that were ready for harvesting have fallen to the ground, raising fears of a reduction in yield and creating difficulties for farmers during the harvesting process.

Farmers say the unexpected weather conditions have severely impacted their hard work, as the crop was almost ready for harvest after months of effort.

They fear financial losses if the weather continues to remain unstable.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert due to the changing weather conditions.

The authority has warned that rain is expected in most districts of Punjab from April 1 to April 4.

According to PDMA, along with rainfall, some areas in both the plains and upper districts of Punjab may also experience hailstorms, which could further affect crops and daily life.
