One killed, 14 injured in blast at Iranian port of Bandar Abbas

Tehran (Web Desk): A devastating explosion struck an eight-storey residential and commercial building in Bandar Abbas’s Moallem neighborhood on Saturday, leaving at least one person dead and 14 others injured.

The powerful blast tore through the structure, collapsing two floors and damaging nearby shops and vehicles. Rescue teams and firefighters rushed to the scene, swiftly transporting the wounded to hospitals for medical attention.

Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, Hormozgan province’s Director General of Crisis Management, confirmed that officials have launched a full investigation to determine what caused the explosion, though no specific details have been released yet.

Footage broadcast by state television revealed severe damage to the building, with its facade blown open and debris scattered across the surrounding streets.

Emergency crews remained on site to secure the area and provide relief to affected residents.

Amid a flurry of social media speculation, the semi-official Tasnim news agency dismissed claims that the blast targeted a commander from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy, calling the reports “completely false.”

Two Israeli officials also told international media that Israel had no role in the incident.

The explosion comes at a time of increased regional tensions, coinciding with the deployment of a US aircraft carrier group to the area and recent strong remarks by US President Donald Trump.

In a separate incident, Iranian media reported that four people were killed in a gas explosion in Ahvaz, a city near the Iraqi border. Details regarding this second incident remain limited.
