Three coaches of Karachi-bound Shalimar Express derail near Lahore's Shahdara

Lahore (Web Desk): Three coaches of Karachi-bound Shalimar Express derailed near Lahore’s Shahdara Railway Station on Friday.

According to Pakistan Railways authorities, no causality was reported and none of the passengers in the affected coaches were injured during the incident which caused a temporary halt to services.

They added that the passengers were safely transferred to Shahdara station to continue their journey.

As per the officials, the train had departed from Lahore early in the morning at 7:30 am.

They added that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Railways Aamir Ali Baloch ordered an investigation into the incident.

While some of the affected passengers were redirected through alternative routes, others continued their journey via relief arrangements. The train was later prepared to resume its journey from Khanewal.

Meanwhile, a Karakoram Express train coming from Karachi was held up at Sheikhupura and rerouted.

The disruption also caused delays for other trains coming through the area, with some services redirected to different routes.

A relief train was mobilized to clear the track, and plans were made to transport passengers to Lahore, where they would board another train to Karachi.
